‘Twas the Night Before Holy Week…

“‘Twas the night before Holy Week, quiet and deep,
As hearts turned to Jesus, and none were asleep.
The palm branches ready, hosannas would ring,
Soon riding a donkey came Heaven’s true King.

By candlelit stillness, in prayer they would stay,
Reflecting on love that would not turn away.
In the garden He knelt, in sorrow and pain,
Submitting to death for our eternal gain.

Then Judas drew near with a kiss to betray,
And soldiers led Christ to be taken away.
From trials unjust to the thorns on His head,
He bore every wound, every word that was said.

He carried the cross to the hill of His grief,
Yet offered the world everlasting relief.
Though buried in silence, the grave could not keep—
The Savior rose up from death’s darkest sleep!

Now Holy Week calls us to pause and adore,
The Lamb who is risen, alive evermore.”
