THE FOREWORD
I wrote this piece after hearing a sermon my Apostle taught on the power of belief and productivity. Many months later, I was able to share it at the monthly Open Mic we host at our church. I once heard my mom say that most sermons that preachers preach are often of something God had to deal with them first. While not a sermon, I can definitely say that the message of this post is something God wants to continue for me to walk in over and over again. I pray as you either watch over the video or read over the words, you’ll leave empowered, ready to step forward into the future God has for you.
THE PIECE
At the start of the year, we see it. The goal, dream, or vision we believe God has placed on our hearts to go after this year. So we start the journey and begin our upward trek. But as we begin to climb we start to notice it. The road gets narrower our journey gets harder. We try to press on to hold out to the vision God placed before us but then we see it in the distance. The mountains that threaten to deter, hinder, and ultimately kill our destiny. We try to press through but .As we walk closer the lies start to get louder, the doubt becomes heavier.. we start to ask ourselves “why did I think I could do this..” “who do I think I am?” “what was I thinking?” “Did God really call me?”
We start to let the mountains speak to us instead of allowing the word of God to have the final say. However, this one past glorious sunday I was reminded,
Jesus says in Mark 11:22-24 NKJV
22 “Have faith in God. 23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”
This had occured a day after Jesus had went up to fig tree that wasn’t producing any fruit and cursed it. The next day when he got back the fig tree had dried up. The disciples were amazed! However, Jesus showed from the text, they didn’t have to be amazed, they (and so we too) can operate in that same power. All we have to do is have faith, speak it, and believe the words and power of God.
In Proverbs 18:21
“Life and death are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”
I’m not saying the obstacles you’re facing aren’t difficult or that the challenges you’re coming up against dont seem insurmoutable (after all a mountain at first glance naturally appears to be bigger than us) but what are you speaking? The power of life and death are in your tongue, therefore, Are you speaking your own defeat or are you speaking what you want to see?
Your mountains don’t get to have the final word. But they will if you allow them. Therefore, don’t. Choose to follow in the footsteps of our Lord.
Tell the spirit of fear that God has only given you one of power and of love and of a sound mind. Tell the insecurity that God’s grace is sufficient for me. That the lord is my helper, therefore I shall not fear, what can man do to me? Tell the condemnation that you have none in christ jesus Tell the challenge that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you! Tell the weakness that its in when i’m weak THEN i’m strong. Tell your problems that may are the afflictions of the righteousness that the Lord has delivered you from them all!
Speak what you want to see! Speak to any mountain that is getting in the way of your productivity and as you obey, watch as the lies fall off and the mountains you once thought unclimable, lay dormat in the sea.
THE REFLECTION TO CONSIDER
- What mountains are you currently facing in your journey?
- What lies have you been speaking to yourself about them?
- What scriptures, promises of God can you begin to speak over yourself and your situation to walk in your victory?
